For those who think the fascination with Route 66 is a flash in the pan here are some emails I have received lately.

From the National Route 66 Association – Yesterday, we got a member from Estonia! We have one in Lichtenstien, too. That makes members from 15 different countries now, including the US.
From Laurel, owner of Afton Station (link in “Favorite site of the Month”, left column) – I had a little time today to work up my guestbook statistics for Afton Station from Jan. 1 to Aug. 31, 2008. Guest book signatures (which I’m estimating represent about two-thirds of the actual guests) showed visitors from 45 states and 18 foreign countries!
From: Henrys Ra66it Ranch – What a nice surprise yesterday morning around 10am. Left after feeding bunnies around 10am. Half mile up 66, I started meeting bunches of motorcycles, so I turned around. First group was Rodger Fox’s tour of Helping Find a Cure with about 80 total. That was a nice surprise. Before they left Trond Moberg with his Norwegians came in. Wow! It goes to prove you never know what will happen next on 66.
From R. McCoy – I just picked up a copy of this new 30-page full-color guide/magazine at an OK visitor’s center yesterday. All I can say is “Wow!” It is complete and beautifully- illustrated with photos and graphics. There is even a handy and very large fold-out map. At the link below you can order a free copy that will be mailed to you. (Oklahoma maps and other brochures of travel destinations in the state are also available for free.)Oklahoma Route 66: The Ultimate Road Triphttp://www.travelok .com/brochures/ index.asp
From L. Chapman – We are from Texas and would like to find out where is the best place to get on the Route66. We ride a Harley Classic loaded.
I have also received notice that we have several groups of German, French, and Dutch visitors headed this way on American built Harley Davidsons.
Are Harley Davidson motorcycles about to beat out the ’57 Chevy as the Route 66 cruiser of choice? Any thoughts?
