A PLAY ON WORDS
Well, you have to give the folks at the Kingman Route 66 Association, or at least the promotional arm that is Chris Durkin, an “A” for creative, independent thinking. Last month the association added a twist to this already an already unique celebration by adding a theme to the event.
For July it was a salute to automotive orphans, this month its “Topless fun on Route 66.” Even though a local belly dancing class will be in attendance the slogan is in reference to convertibles.
With live music, a poker walk through the historic district, and a Route 66 themed scavenger hunt, everyone is assured a good time. Even though the event is open to anything with wheels it is the owners of the first 200 topless vehicles entered, be they Jeep, Cadillac, Porsche, or Triumph, that will receive this dash magnet.
The event kicks off at 6:00 PM on August 21 in the historic district one block north of Route 66. I hope to see you there!
