Penned by Bobby Troup back in the mid 1940s, it was that catchy little tune about a highway signed with two sixes that ensured the whole world knew about Kingman. But that song gave the impression this town was simply a stop while motoring west.

But not everyone that rolling through town simply stopped for gas or a meal at the Kimo Cafe. A few spent a little more time and discovered a true diamond in the rough.

Some came back for a second look after spending time during the war at the Kingman Army Airfield. A few came for their health on the recommendatin of doctors. And, according to local legend, a few simply broke down in Kingman. After a months these folks realized that it was a pretty nice town.

Fast forward to 2026, year of the Route 66 centennial and semiquincentennial of the United States. Thousands of people still roll through town on Route 66 as they motor west. But people are fast discovering that Kingman IS the destination. Hiding in plain site is a vacation destination of epic proportions.
