Celebrating the Route 66 centennial in 2026 is fast becoming a topic of conversation. Magnifying the excitment is the fact that 2026 is also the 250th anniversary of the United States. What better place is there to celebrate that milestone than on the Main Street of America!

Over the years this storied highway captured the hearts and imaginations of millions of people. And for legions of enthusiasts, it has come to symbolize the quintessential American road trip. So, from Chicago to Santa Monica preparations are underway to celebrate this iconic American highway.

The second is Coffee With Jim, the weekly podcast from Jim Hinckley’s America on Podbean. With assistancce fromfascinating and informative guests, the podcast shares America’s story and inspires road trips.

Communities along the route are also planning festivals, parades, and exhibitions that showcase their unique heritage and contributions to the Route 66 story. These events will be used to support local businesses, to spur historic district revitalization and as a catalyst for economic development.
